Author Bio
Cat Cochrane is a writer, performance poet and podcaster from Glasgow.
As a journalist, she has written for local and national newspapers including the Glasgow Times, Herald Scotland and The Scotsman.
Her two collections of short stories and poems titled 'Sugartown' and 'Sweet Tease' delve into the hopes, dreams and fears of working class life in the West of Scotland, told through the eyes of loveable misfits and gutsy underdogs.
She is the creator and host of the No Dice podcast, a series discussing female gambling addiction and stories of recovery across Scotland. As a speaker against the power of the gambling industry, Cat represents lived experience voices in raising awareness of addiction and pathways to recovery.
As a performance poet, Cat is a regular on the Glasgow open mic poetry scene and is the winner of the first Hampden Poetry Slam competition.
Synopsis
'Glasgow Hairdresser’s & Barber’s Tales' is a collection of narratives and accompanying photography documenting lived experiences from the city's most famous hair stylists to the next generation of graduating barbers. This book gives voice to all life in an everchanging city through anecdotes and pockets of wisdom seen and heard behind the chair.
Immersing herself in tales of salon life, Cat Cochrane curates a piece of Glasgow social commentary that reflects where the city’s been, where it’s at, and where it’s going, as told by that most insightful of professions.
